A woman fatally stabbed another Thursday in a restroom at a Central Valley park, Las Vegas police said.
Officers were called around 2:15 p.m. at West Flamingo Park, near South Jones Boulevard, on reports of stabbing, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. When police arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds, Lt. Ray Spencer said. She died at the scene.
Spencer said the two women may have been homeless.
Detectives believe the women, who may have known each other, had an “altercation” in a women’s restroom, which ended in stabbing, Spencer said. Police believe the other woman rushed to a house behind the park immediately after.
Spencer said detectives found a “possible suspect,” identified only as a woman in her 30s, in the house.
“At this point, this woman is being questioned by detectives, and we are still trying to locate potential witnesses,” he said during a briefing at the scene.
The victim will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Officer after his family is notified. More information on the stabbing and what led to it was not available Thursday evening.
The woman’s death marks Metro’s 57th homicide investigation this year, according to Review-Journal records.
