Maywood man charged with stabbing 3 people in Las Vegas hotel parking lot

Bradley Pitts, 26 | Cook County Sheriff’s Office

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Maywood in connection with a triple stabbing at a hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a press release from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Bradley Pitts was taken into custody Wednesday in the 800 block of 19th Avenue South in Maywood, the statement said.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police identified Pitts as the person who stabbed a man and two women on Jan. 9 in the parking lot of the MGM Grand Hotel. On Jan. 10, a Clark County, Nevada, court issued a no-bail warrant for Pitts’ arrest for three assaults with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, the statement said.

On January 24, officers from the Sheriff’s Police Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCSU) conducted a traffic stop on a Blue Jaguar in the 5100 block of West Madison Avenue in Chicago. The driver, later identified as Pitts, surrendered his license to officers and then drove off, the statement said.

SCSU investigators learned he was wanted in connection with the Las Vegas stabbings. A Cook County warrant was also issued against Pitts for fleeing and trying to evade police, the statement said.

SCSU investigators contacted the Cook County Sheriff’s Regional Fugitive Task Force/US Marshals Great Lakes for assistance in locating Pitts. The unit discovered he was staying in the 800 block of 19th Avenue South in Maywood, the statement said.

Pitts appeared March 17 at the Maywood courthouse on the Cook County warrant, where he was ordered to post $25,000 bond, according to the statement.

He is due to appear at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building on Friday for an extradition hearing.

The public is reminded that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in court.
